Tom Hardy talks Bane in 'The Dark Knight Rises'

Confession: We here at Zap2it were ecstatic when we heard that "Inception's" Tom Hardy was going to be in Christopher Nolan's third and final "Batman" film, "The Dark Knight Rises."

Confession No. 2: We were a little surprised when we heard he was going to be playing Bane -- a character that didn't translate well in "Batman & Robin." (Come to think of it, did anything translate well in that film?)

After hearing those startling confessions, you can imagine our relief after we read what Hardy had to say about the character being anything like the one fans saw in "Batman & Robin": "Have you seen Joel Schumacher's "Batman & Robin"? Doesn't look very menacing, does he?" Hardy says. "Christopher Nolan will revisit the character so I wouldn't go by that at all."

Phew, crisis averted. Hardy also talked about having to bulk up for the role, something he has done before.

"I'm going to need to bulk up a lot  for it. That's a lot of weight to put on and I've got to start shooting in May," he explains. "I've got to go up to about 13 or 14 stone. I'm 12 and a bit now, so I only have a few months to do that."

Finally, when Hardy was asked if he would be wearing Bane's luchadore mask in the film, he jokes, "Only if I feel like it!"
