A source close to Scott tells ABC News that the director had inoperable brain cancer. Scott, 68, jumped to his death from a bridge in Los Angeles on Sunday afternoon (Aug. 19).

The L.A. County coroner's office is looking into the ABC report and others, according to the Los Angeles Times. The Times also reports that Scott left a suicide note at his office along with "instructional" notes to family members and friends.

Investigators also found contact information for Scott's wife, Donna, in his car, which was parked near where he jumped from the Vincent Thomas Bridge.

The coroner's office is continuing to investigate Scott's death as a suicide.
