'Touch' canceled by FOX: Series finale airs May 10
"Touch" premiered to much fanfare -- including "24" star Sutherland's return to FOX -- and somewhat promising ratings in a special preview in January 2012. But when it returned as a regular series in March it started to bleed viewers week by week and ended Season 1 with a limp average of 7.2 million viewers and a 2.1 rating in adults 18-49.
Several revamps were made for Season 2 -- new action-driven plots and the addition of Golden Globe nominee Maria Bello to the cast -- but FOX also scheduled the show on Fridays and production on the series was said to be troubled.
"Touch" has been averaging a miserable 2.68 million viewers and a 0.7 in the demo for Season 2, making its cancellation a foregone conclusion.
NBC even reportedly wooed Sutherland to star in their 2013 fall season contender "The Blacklist," but the role ultimately went to James Spader.
