'Trapped in the Closet' returns to IFC in November: Preview Chapter 23 now

r-kelly-trapped-in-the-closet-chapter-23.jpgFive years after we left the saga of Sylvester and Gwendolyn, Rufus and Cathy and Chuck, James and Bridget and Twan and Pimp Lucius and Roxanne and Tina, R. Kelly's "Trapped in the Closet" is ready to resume its story.

IFC will air new chapters of the sprawling, surreal "hip-hopera" at 9 p.m. ET Friday, Nov. 23. A preview of Chapter 23 is at the end of this post and re-introduces several of the key characters -- all except Chuck, who when we last saw him was in the hospital, possibly suffering from AIDS.

The cable channel will also air Thanksgiving Day marathons of the previous 22 chapters and air a remastered version of the saga at 7 p.m. Nov. 23, leading into the new chapters. (Last year Kelly said he had written 32(!) new chapters of the story and was looking for a way to get them produced.)

The new material will also introduce two characters played by Kelly: Dr. Perry, a therapist helping Rufus and Cathy with their marriage, and Beeno, a "powerful underworld kingpin."

But let R. Kelly catch you up. As he promises, "These next chapters of 'Trapped in the Closet' are gonna be so crazy." Here's a peek at Chapter 23 (some NSFW language); IFC.com also has all the previous chapters online, along with character biographies and more.
