Tricia Helfer joins 'The Firm' at NBC; Bryan Cranston meets 'The Simpsons'
NBC's midseason drama "The Firm" has recruited Tricia Helfer ("Battlestar Galactica") for a recurring part. She'll be playing a character named Alex Clark, a senior partner in the law firm that hires Mitch McDeere ( Josh Lucas) after he's been in witness protection for the better part of a decade. "Breaking Bad" star Bryan Cranston will lend his voice to an episode of "The Simpsons" in the coming season. He'll play a Hollywood spy named Stradivarius Cain (awesome) who helps Homer -- who's suffered a head injury and is hallucinating the character -- become irresistible to Marge. [ EW]
The final season of "Desperate Housewives" has added a pair of recurring guest stars: Andrea Parker ("Less Than Perfect," "The Pretender") will play Tom's ( Doug Savant) new girlfriend ( Jessica Hecht had initially been in talks for the role), and Miguel Ferrer ("The Protector," "Crossing Jordan") will play an artist teaching a college class that Susan ( Teri Hatcher) is taking. Bravo is re-editing the coming season of "The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" in the wake of Russell Armstrong's suicide. Network head Frances Berwick doesn't offer specifics, but presumably the changes will de-emphasize his presence and any conflict he may have had with wife Taylor Armstrong. Berwick also says Bravo hasn't decided whether to delay the Sept. 5 premiere. [ Variety]
Ryan Rottman ("Gigantic") is moving from TeenNick to The CW this fall. He'll recur on "90210" as a gay man who's "confident in his identity and committed to fighting for marriage equality." So ... a possible love interest for Trevor Donovan's Teddy, then? [ EW]
Frankie ( Patricia Heaton) has mentioned her sister on "The Middle" before, but we're about to meet her for the first time. The ABC comedy has cast Molly Shannon as the sibling in question; no word yet on when she'll make her first appearance. [ TVLine]
