'Trophy Wife' series finale: The women deal with the fact that 'they're married too,' tease the EPs

trophy-wife-finale-marcia-gay-harden-malin-akerman-michaela-watkins.jpgSadly, "Trophy Wife" has been canceled by ABC after struggling in the ratings for most of the season. However, that doesn't mean we can't all enjoy the season -- and now series -- finale, titled "Mother's Day," which executive producers Emily Halpern and Sarah Haskins tease for Zap2it has some big implications for Diane, Jackie and Kate's relationship.

"Things happen in the finale that make the women realize that for better or worse, they're married too," says Haskins. "Once you sort of confront that directly, your relationship has changed."

We don't want to give too much away, but let's just say that Diane and Jackie team up against Kate, with predictably humorous results.

"Jackie and Diane had a very specific relationship before Kate came into the picture," says Halpern, "and then when Kate came around, it opened up all these other possibilities of the ways they can relate to each other."

"They're friends, but they're also co-conspirators in this case," continues Haskins. "They come together each thinking that it's a transaction that will benefit themselves, and it's a mutually-beneficial agreement, then they end up having an adventure. I think all of the Jackie-Diane stories kind of have that angle."

You'll have to tune in to find out how Kate resolves her latest Jackie-Diane incident, airing Tuesday (May 13) at 9:30 p.m. ET/PT on ABC. Also check back here after the episode has aired because the EPs have shared with Zap2it some of the Season 2 (and beyond) story lines they were hoping to explore.
