'True Blood' adds 'Southland's' Kevin Alejandro, plus more casting news
Alejandro will play a love interest for Lafayette (Nelsan Ellis), according to The Hollywood Reporter. His character, Jesus, is an orderly who's helping care for Lafayette's mom (Alfre Woodard). He's scheduled to appear "in almost every episode" of season 3, which will debut in the summer.
He's also still attached to "Southland." The former NBC series debuts on TNT on Jan. 12, but the cable channel is planning to see how it performs before deciding whether to go back into production. That leaves some room on Alejandro's schedule for "True Blood."
Other casting news:
- Luke Wilson and Diane Ladd have signed on to "Enlightened," an HBO pilot starring Laura Dern. Amy Hill has also been cast as a regular, and Charles Esten will recur, the HR says.
Created by Mike White ("School of Rock"), the pilot stars Dern as Amy, a woman whose newfound spirituality disrupts the lives of her family and friends. AT&T pitchman Wilson ("Old School," "3:10 to Yuma") will play her drug-using ex. Ladd, Dern's real-life mom, will also play her mother on screen.
Hill ("Couples Retreat," "50 First Dates") will play a co-worker of Amy's and Esten ("The Office," "Big Love") her boss and former lover.
- Catherine McCormack and Stacy Keach will star with Holt McCallany in FX's upcoming series "Lights Out."
McCallany plays a retired boxer whose years in the ring are starting to take a toll on his mind and is struggling to help support his family. McCormack ("28 Weeks Later") will play his wife, a doctor, and Keach ("Prison Break," "W.") will play his dad, who runs a boxing gym.
McCormack replaces Melora Hardin, who played the boxer's wife in the show's first pilot, and Keach is taking over for Kevin Conway.
