With Luke Grimes having landed a role in "Fifty Shades of Grey," he won't be coming back to Bon Temps any time soon. It's being reported that Grimes will sit out "True Blood's" seventh and final season.

TVLine reports that Jessica's vamp-camp fling James is being recast. An HBO spokesperson tells the site, "The role of James is being recast due to the creative direction of the character."

According to a source close to the situation, Grimes wasn't happy with where "True Blood" was planning to take James. Considering the Season 6 finale went a bit off the rails at the end, it's anyone's guess what direction that could be.

"He initially joined the show because he wanted to work with [his 'Forever' co-star] Deborah Ann Woll," says the source. "But when he started reading the scripts for Season 7, he was disappointed to learn that they were going in a completely different direction with James."

The insider says it was Grimes' call to be let out of his contract early. Production on "True Blood" Season 7 begins in January, with a planned June 2014 premiere date.
