'True Blood' postmortem video: Faeries explained

We've known for a few episodes now on "True Blood" that Sookie ( Anna Paquin) is a faerie. Readers of the Sookie Stackhouse book series by Charlaine Harris may know a lot about the race of supernaturals. Fans of the TV series, though, are faerie in the dark. Ouch, sorry about that one.

In the video above, creator Alan Ball and crew try to explain just what makes faeries tick and the possibilities that may lie ahead for Sookie's own abilities.

"Faeries, to me, in our world are the most evolved creatures and the most alive of all creatures," explains Ball. "They are more in touch with nature than we humans with our cerebral baggage are."

Apparently, the faeries we've seen on the HBO show seem to have it all figured out. They play and dance near a magical brook, but it's also clear that vampires are not welcome. In fact the little that we know from the show is that faeries were supposedly driven to extinction by vampires. It seems, though, that they've been able to hide out all these years undetected until now. Oh, Sookie.

What do you expect from Sookie going forward?
