TV ratings: 'American Idol' and 'Modern Family' dip on a soft Wednesday
Wednesday was not the greatest night for the broadcast networks. The two biggest shows, "American Idol" and "Modern Family," were both down from their last original episodes, and "Criminal Minds" and "CSI" dipped too.
Among the few bright spots, "Arrow" was up in The CW's young-adult demos, and "Supernatural" was pretty much even with last week.
FOX led the night with 14.2 million viewers and an 8.4 rating/13 share in households for the night. CBS (10 million, 6.5/10) came in second. ABC was third with 6.9 million viewers and a 4.5/7, beating NBC's 5. million and 3.4/5. The CW (2.6 million, 1.6/2) trailed.
FOX scored a 4.6 rating among adults 18-49, more than doubling the 2.2 for second-place ABC. CBS finished third with a 2.1. NBC scored a 1.5 in the demographic and The CW a 1.0.
