TV ratings: 'American Idol' hits an all-time low ThursdayAdd to Favorites | American Idol
Thursday's "American Idol" sunk to the show's lowest adults 18-49 rating ever, notching a very ordinary 2.7 in the demographic. It finished behind CBS' NCAA tournament coverage at 10 o'clock (pending updates) and "Grey's Anatomy" in the demo.
Also Thursday, "The Vampire Diaries" and "Scandal" were down a little bit from last week, and the season finale of "Raising Hope" on FOX didn't keep much of its "Idol" lead-in. NBC's "1600 Penn" limped to the end of its season.
FOX averaged 7.5 million viewers and a 4.7 rating/8 share in households to lead the night. ABC (7.05 million, 4.7/8) edged CBS (6.9 million, 4.5/7) for second place, although the Eye's numbers may rise some with adjustments for its live sports coverage. NBC came in fourth with 2.6 million viewers and a 1.8/3. The CW (2 million, 1.2/2) trailed.
ABC and CBS tied for the lead among adults 18-49, each scoring a 2.3 rating. FOX came in third with a 2.0. Neither The CW (0.9) nor NBC (0.8) could get above a 1.0.
