TV ratings: 'Big Bang Theory' and 'Community' rise Thursday vs. 'Idol'

"The Big Bang Theory" and "Community" were both up Thursday compared to their most recent original episodes, with "Community" scoring its best ratings since its season premiere. CBS' "Two and a Half Men" was also up, topping "Idol" in their common half-hour for the first time.

A 90-minute "American Idol" revealing the Top 10 singers was up over last Thursday in viewers but dipped in adults 18-49. "Glee," which aired from 9:30 to 10:30 p.m. ET, returned to better numbers than its last episode three weeks ago.

CBS led the night with 12.9 million viewers and an 8.0 rating/13 share in households. FOX scored 10.5 million viewers and a 6.4/10 from 8 to 10:30 p.m. (from 8 to 10, it was 11.6 million and 7.0/11). ABC (3.9 million, 2.7/4) was third with a night of reruns. NBC (3 million, 2.0/3) took fourth, and The CW (906,000, 0.6/1) trailed.

FOX won the adults 18-49 title with a 3.1 rating (3.3 from 8 to 10), edging CBS' 3.0. ABC and NBC tied for third at 1.1. The CW posted a 0.3.
