"Cougar Town" opened pretty softly on Tuesday night, drawing ratings below its season average last year. Valentine's Day in general was not a great one for the networks -- CBS was fairly steady compared with last week, but the other four networks were all down.

ABC in particular had a rough night. "The River" dropped off significantly from its premiere last week, and "Body of Proof" turned in one of its weakest performances ever. "Glee" and "New Girl" were off for FOX as well.

CBS pretty well ran away with the total viewer crown Tuesday, drawing 15.5 million people and a 9.5 rating/15 share in households in primetime. FOX was a very distant second with 6.25 million viewers and a 3.8/6. ABC (5.8 million, 3.6/6) came in third, followed by NBC (5.4 million, 3.4/6). The CW fell below a million viewers, drawing 909,000 and a 0.6/1.

CBS also led the adults 18-49 demographic with a 3.1 rating, but its margin of victory was smaller. FOX took second with a 2.7. NBC's 1.9 was good enough for third. ABC scored a 1.6 in the demo and The CW a mere 0.3.
