TV ratings: 'Dancing With the Stars' premieres higher Monday, 'Biggest Loser' finale up
The spring premiere of "Dancing With the Stars" improved significantly on its fall debut, rising by 24 percent in adults 18-49 and 19 percent in viewers to help ABC win the night. The "DWTS" premiere also helped "Castle" score its biggest total audience of the season.
Elsewhere, the season finale of "The Biggest Loser" was up over last year for NBC airing opposite "Dancing." The "Deception" finale also improved a little. The unscripted competition drove CBS' comedies and FOX's "The Following" down some, but "The Carrie Diaries" enjoyed a bump in adults 18-34 and 18-49 for The CW.
ABC averaged 14.9 million viewers and a 9.5 rating/15 share in households for the night, up 1.4 million viewers from the night "DWTS: All-Stars" premiered in September. CBS (8 million, 5.1/8) finished a fairly distant second. FOX took third with 7.2 million viewers and a 4.4/7, beating out NBC's 6.1 million and 3.7/6. The CW (775,000, 0.5/1) trailed.
The Alphabet also led the adults 18-49 demo with a 2.8 rating. CBS came in second with a 2.4, and FOX and NBC tied for third at 2.2. The CW managed only a 0.3.
