"American Idol" slipped a bit more this week in its first hour, then rebounded for a strong last half hour, which did not continue into "Breaking In." "Breaking In" lost about 1.5 million viewers from its premiere last week.

The premiere of "Happy Endings" on ABC was decent, though it did lose 2.3 million viewers from its "Modern Family" lead-in. However, the second "Happy Endings" episode of the night bled 1.5 million more viewers.

FOX won the night easily, though, averaging 18.9 million viewers and a 10.6 rating/17 share in households. CBS was a solid second at 11.3 million, 7.2/11. Lagging behind were ABC at 6.4 million, 4.1/6, NBC at 4 million, 2.5/4 and the CW at 1.8 million, 1.2/2.

In the 18-49 demographic, FOX was also strong at a 6.0 rating, followed by CBS (3.0), ABC (2.3), NBC (1.2) and the CW (0.8).
