TV ratings: 'Modern Family' and 'Nashville' drop on Halloween as CBS and FOX lead
Halloween night -- and the lingering effects of Sandy -- brought ratings for some shows down Wednesday: "Modern Family" and "Nashville" hit season lows in the overnights, and "Law & Order: SVU" and "Survivor: Philippines" were off a little too.
A Wednesday "30 Rock," however, hit a season high in viewers and maintained its 18-49 rating from its past couple Thursday airings. "Criminal Minds" and "CSI" were also up for CBS, and "Arrow" remained solid for The CW.
CBS led the night overall, scoring 10.9 million viewers and a 6.8 rating/11 share in households. FOX (7.4 million, 4.5/7) edged ABC (7 million, 4.3/7) for second place. NBC was fourth with 5.1 million viewers and a 3.4/6. The CW (2.7 million, 1.7/3) trailed.
FOX didn't win either of its hours in adults 18-49, but its average in the demographic (2.6) was enough to score a narrow win over CBS (2.5) and ABC (2.4). NBC posted a 1.5 in the demo and The CW a 1.0.
