TV ratings: Olympics dominate Wednesday, running ahead of 2008
With women's gymnastics taking the day off, prime-time ratings for the Summer Olympics on Wednesday came down some from Tuesday's numbers. But NBC still scored a massive win for the night, and through six days of coverage the network is ahead of its ratings for the 2008 games.
The Olympics drew 30.6 million viewers and a 17.8 rating/29 share in households for the evening. CBS was a very distant second with 4.6 million viewers and a 3.1/5. ABC (2.8 million, 1.8/3) came in third, followed by FOX (2.1 million, 1.3/2) and The CW (930,000, 0.6/1).
In the adults 18-49 demographic, NBC's 9.7 rating was more than three times the combined total of the other four networks. CBS, 1.3, was the only other net to score above a 1 in the demo. ABC averaged 0.8, FOX 0.7 and The CW 0.3.
