'Twilight: New Moon': Taylor Lautner can probably beat you up

taylorlautner_teenvogue_290.jpgIt's not every Teen Vogue cover subject who knows a dozen different ways to beat you up, but Taylor Lautner does.

The "Twilight Saga: New Moon" star graces the magazine's October cover, and inside he discusses how he got into show business and how he's had to adjust his life since the "Twilight" juggernaut has made him famous.

Oh, and about him beating you up: Lautner was a top-level martial-arts competitor in his age group and by age 13 was a four-time world champion in various karate disciplines. He also tells the magazine that he competed in something called Xtreme Martial Arts, which he describes as "almost like gymnastics ... but there's a lot of kicks and punches and flips."

His coach, former "Power Rangers: Lightspeed Rescue" star Mike Chaturantabut, encouraged him to try acting, and the rest is history.

As for the many fans of his role as Jacob Black, Lautner says that anyone who played the part would have experienced the same thing (although this ignores the eardrum-shattering reaction among fangirls when a shirtless Lautner appeared in the movie's trailer). He also has an idea of what kind of girl would sign up for Team Jacob.

"If shelikes having a really close friendship with a guy," he says, "being able to tell him anything, and then having that friendship slowly transform into something more ..." He leaves it at that. We're sure the members of Team Jacob can pick it up from there.
