'Two and a Half Men': Meet Walden Schmidt, Ashton Kutcher's character
Kutcher will be playing a gentleman named Walden Schmidt, CBS Entertainment president Nina Tassler said Wednesday morning (Aug. 3) at the Television Critics Association summer press tour. He'll first appear in the season premiere, but his introduction will span the first two episodes of the season.
"He's an Internet billionaire with a broken heart," Tassler says. So ... he's Mark Zuckerberg as portrayed in "The Social Network"?
Tassler wouldn't tip the show's hand as to whether Walden is in any way related to Alan ( Jon Cryer) and Jake ( Angus T. Jones), noting only that "he's a unique character." She also wouldn't spill any beans about whether Charlie Sheen's character would die in the season premiere.
"I know that was out there. I'm not going to confirm or deny that," she says. "... The mystery is part of the marketing. I think the chatter and the conversation and the discussion about it is part of what the fun of it can be."
As for the tone of the show? Long-time fans of "Men" need not worry, Tassler says: "The great news is the show will be as irreverent as it's always been. Our program practices people are already on high alert."
