'Two and a Half Men': Was Kathy Bates as Charlie Harper a good idea? [POLL]

[Spoiler Alert]

Oscar-winning actress Kathy Bates donned the bowling shirt and channeled her inner Charlie as a hospitalized Alan ( Jon Cryer) desperately needed guidance from his older brother. Things, of course, don't go as planned. This momentarily lands Alan in a rat-infested motel rather than the plush Malibu lodging he's been staying at for nine seasons.

Bates pulled off the role without a hitch. But then again her acting deftness has never been an issue. She can pretty much play any character she wants in film or TV. But did the show blow it with the story line in the first place? Should they move past shadow that Charlie Sheen casts over the show, or did the story work well for you?
