dean-norris-under-the-dome-exigent-circumstances.jpg "Under the Dome" has just two episodes left in its first season and executive producer Neal Baer teases for Zap2it that the military presence outside the dome is not gone for good.

"We are going to answer your questions about Colonel Cox and the military in episode 12," says Baer, referring to the Sept. 9 episode. He tells us that an actor has not been cast as Cox yet, but for now, we will hear his voice.

For those of you unfamiliar with that character, in the book Col. Cox is Barbie's main military contact outside the dome. He facilitates the missile strike that tries to bring the dome down and keeps in constant communication with Barbie and Julia about the happenings both inside and outside the dome. We've been wondering all season if he was going to pop up on the show.

Speaking of the book, while the show has departed significantly from the events in the novel, Baer does say that "some elements of character" from the book are still yet to come on the show, especially with Big Jim.

Part of those characterizations that we have yet to see involve Big Jim's spiral from a morally gray-area to an all-out bad guy, which Baer teases will be shocking.

"Of course there are [deaths]. It can get brutal. We really want to take you on a ride," says Baer. "You ain't seen nothin' yet. We have some real shocking stuff coming. Nobody is safe. Nobody is safe under the dome. Nobody."

Finally, we couldn't help but ask about Season 2, which has already been ordered by CBS. Baer says they don't know much yet, but he can say that "once you see the last episode and what happens there, then you'll know a little bit more about what the dome is about and that will go into Season 2."

"Under the Dome" airs Monday nights at 10 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
