'Under the Dome' Season 2 premiere: A shocking death and more spoilery teases

under-the-dome-season-2-premiere-CBS.jpgThe "Under the Dome" special "Inside Chester's Mill" that aired Monday (June 23) on CBS was mostly a recap of Season 1, but it did feature a scene from the Season 2 premiere, titled "Heads Will Roll."

"In Season 2, we explore the mythology of the dome," says star Dean Norris, preceding a clip of when the dome becomes magnetized and starts attracting everything made of metal that is nearby, endangering the lives of several characters.

Here are a few other slight spoilers from the premiere:

  • As you may know from casting scoops, Eddie Cahill, Grace Victoria Cox, Sherry Stringfield and Karla Crome are joining Season 2. We can say that more than one of them has a connection to the Rennie family, of which we can't wait to see more. One of them in particular provided the first jaw-dropping moment of the premiere.
  • Just because someone is dead doesn't mean you'll never seen them again on "Under the Dome." That's a good thing seeing as how the season premiere kills off two Season 1 main characters (one of which is quite shocking, for jaw-dropping moment No. 2).
  • There's a new love quadrilateral being set up in town and two sides of it have the added tension of being of two very different minds about the dome. Think "(Wo)Man of Science, (Wo)Man of Faith," if you will.
  • The events of the premiere seem to give Big Jim a new lease on life. Will he turn over a new leaf? We're not holding our breath.

"Under the Dome" premieres Monday, June 30 at 10 p.m. ET/PT on CBS.
