'Under the Dome's' Britt Robertson talks 'Delivery Man': Vince Vaughn makes Kristen feel like somebody cares
In the new Vince Vaughn comedy "Delivery Man," where Vaughn plays David Wozniak, a man who fathered 533 children because of his donations to a sperm bank, "Under the Dome" star Britt Robertson is Kristen, one of said children.
Robertson was charged with the task of playing a girl who struggles with substance abuse and carries perhaps the most emotionally-charged scene in the movie Vaughn has with one of his children. But the "Secret Circle" alum tells Zap2it that it was actually really fun to play.
"It was really fun. It was a challenging role in the sense that I had to convince Vince not to put me in rehab," says Robertson "But then you have all these other layers where you're trying to connect with him and see who he is. Who is this guy? Why is he just all of a sudden caring about me? He doesn't even know me."
"My character starts in a pretty emotional state," Robertson continues. "She's a person who is looking for some direction. She's looking for some sort of help with these transitions in her life. Vince walks in at this really difficult moment for me and makes me feel like somebody's there for her and cares about her well-being."
Vaughn's care for his children is really the heart of the film, with one reviewer calling the movie a "heartfelt celebration of the act of parenthood."
"Vince did such a great job of conveying this heart-warming message to the audience -- it was really about his journey and a coming-of-age story
for him as well as his children. It's how you end up falling for his character," says Robertson. "You feel so compelled to fight with him on this journey to be a guardian angel for his children."
"Delivery Man" opens nationwide Friday, Nov. 22 and look for Robertson next summer on Season 2 of CBS' new hit drama, "Under the Dome." Below, watch a clip from her new movie.
