"Veep," the award-winning HBO comedy that some politicians say is the most realistic look at Washington, D.C., currently on the television landscape, returns Sunday (April 6).

Star Tony Hale stopped by "Today" Friday to talk about his character, the much-maligned body man Gary, who Hale says is pretty much in love with Selina Meyer (Julia Louis-Dreyfus).

"[As body man] he has whatever she needs. Typically people do this in their 20s for a few years and then they burn out and they go on to do other stuff. ... Gary has extended it into his 40s because that's all he has. He has no identity outside Selina," says Hale. " ... In Gary's world, they're going to be married one day. She probably doesn't even know his last name, but in my world, she loves me."

Below watch a clip of the premiere episode, titled "New Beginnings," which sees Selina at a book signing in Iowa as she launches her run for president.

"Veep" airs Sundays at 10:30 p.m. ET/PT on HBO.
