Verizon announces iPhone plans: When can you get it?

On Tuesday morning, Verizon officially announced plans to make iPhones available, sending Twitter users into a joy frenzy.

You can sign up now to pre-order the iPhone on Feb. 3 - which you might want to do post-haste, since there are apparently a "reserved quantity" available. (There's no better way to get people to buy something than to tell them there aren't a lot left, right?)

It becomes available officially on February 10.

The phone starts at $199.99 if you buy it with data pak and a new two-year activation. Like the AT&T iPhone 4, the Verizon version features Retina Display, FaceTime video calling, a 5-megapixel camera, and Apple's A4 chip.

But it also has a feature that AT&T's doesn't - your Verizon iPhone can be used as a mobile wireless hotspot. Take that, AT&T.

So long, BBM friends. We'll miss you. Tweet us or something.
