Vice President Joe Biden talks gun control live stream - watch here
Monday (April 8), President Obama spoke about gun control in Connecticut and then flew relatives of some of the Newtown victims to Washington D.C. to lobby members of Congress about gun reforms.
Now Tuesday (April 9), Vice President Joe Biden and Attorney General Eric Holder are holding a press event at the White House. They will stand with law enforcement officials from across the country, highlighting what they call "commonsense measures to reduce gun violence."
Republican Senator Mitch McConnell said Monday that he and 13 other senators are set to filibuster a proposal that stands a realistic chance of getting through Congress -- the expansion of background checks for people trying to purchase a gun. They say they are prepared to block any debate on the bill.
Democratic Senator Harry Reid responded with, "Many Senate Republicans seem afraid to even engage in this debate - shame on them. The least Republicans owe the parents of 20 children murdered with guns at Sandy Hook elementary is a thoughtful debate about whether stronger gun laws could have saved their babies. The least Republicans owe them is a vote."
The live stream of Biden's event begins above at approximately 2 p.m. ET/11 a.m. PT.
