Video: Mariah Carey hilariously adlibs lyrics during concert technical failure
Mariah Carey sure knows how to keep her cool. During a New Year's Eve concert in Australia, Carey suffered a technical failure where she was unable to hear herself sing through her earpiece monitor, but that didn't kill her performance.
No, what came next is one for the books. Carey cues the audience off to the issue by adlibbing, "These might not be the best lyrics I ever wrote, but whatcha gonna do? I'm in a dress that's a little bit small and little bit big and my shoes my shoes my shoes..."
She then goes on to serenade the crowd as she and her backstage team trying to resolve the problem. At one point her band started up a song before the issue had been fixed, and Carey reprimanded them through song. Still, that's nothing compared to when Carey turns the fact she could use a stiff drink into a jingle.
Later in the show, Carey reportedly announced some "special visitors" and then invited husband Nick Cannon and their twins Moroccan and Monroe out on stage. Good to know they're getting in some quality family time before Mimi goes into full "American Idol" mode when the show returns on Jan. 16.
