Vin Diesel says 2 'Fast and Furious' films are revving into high gear

Fast-Five-Cars-Nissan-Skyline.jpgIt looks like the next installment of "The Fast and the Furious" franchise will be split into two films. In the grand tradition of franchises like "The Twilight Saga" and "Harry Potter," there is just too much story to fit into one film.

Star Vin Diesel told THR, "With the success of this last one, and the inclusion of so many characters, and the broadening of scope, when we were sitting down to figure out what would fit into the real estate of number six, we didn't have enough space," He said both scripts are being written simultaneously.

"We have to pay off this story, we have to service all of these character relationships, and when we started mapping all that out it just went beyond 110 pages," Diesel explained. "The studio said, 'You can't fit all that story in one damn movie!'"

Well, considering how much fun "Fast Five" was, we really have no problem with this one being split into two parts. We're sure that the $626 million worldwide gross didn't hurt.
