VMAs 2013: Taylor Swift talks Selena Gomez and a studio return

At the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards, it was too bad for the " Divergent" actors that Taylor Swift needed devoted red-carpet time. Shailene Woodley and Theo James had to stand aside when Swift arrived for her interview.

What did we learn? Taylor is heading to the studio soon, she was planning to hang out with Selena Gomez and she smells nice.

That last part seemed to be very important to her interviewer.

More important than Taylor's scent -- for audiences at home anyway -- was her look. It didn't really work out so well. Taylor Swift looked far older than her real age, and the young singer could have easily passed for 40. Definitely not the best makeup job she has ever had.

It was a short and hurried video, so Taylor Swift didn't give away a lot of information. She did, however, mention that new recordings would be coming soon. "I'm about to go into the studio, and it's about to get really intense," Swift said.

Unlike many singers attending the awards, Taylor wasn't on-hand to perform. She was up for awards, and there would be a presentation, but otherwise Swift was looking forward to a fun night of hanging out with friends and watching the show. "Selena's here, and we always turn it into a fun evening," she explained about her plans.
