Warren Buffett, Rihanna, Tim Tebow make Time's 100 most influential list

Time-100-most-influential-tim-tebow-warren-buffett-rihanna.jpgTime magazine revealed its ninth annual list of the 100 most influential people in the world Wednesday (April 18), and it's a diverse mix of bold-faced names from the entertainment world, politics, business and more, including actresses Jessica Chastain, Claire Danes, Viola Davis, Kristen Wiig and Tilda Swinton. A total of 38 women made the list this year -- more than ever before.

Others of note in the world of pop culture include singers Adele and Rihanna, comedians Louis CK and Chelsea Handler, "The Colbert Report" host Stephen Colbert and "Today" host Matt Lauer, sisters Catherine and Pippa Middleton, sports stars Tim Tebow and Jeremy Lin, "50 Shades of Grey" author E.L. James, Berkshire Hathaway CEO Warren Buffett and The Weinstein Company co-chairman Harvey Weinstein.

One of the coolest things about this issue is the interesting pairs Time matches when selecting contributors to write about the influential honorees. Check out some of the excerpts below, and see the full list on Time's website.

Chelsea Handler by Kathy Griffin: "Look, I don't know how Chelsea Handler does it. Chelsea presides over her own media empire -- talk show, sitcom, books -- all while sharing a network with Ryan Seacrest and the Kardashians. To hell with the Time 100; she should be Person of the Year just for putting up with Khloe."

Adele by Pink: "There are a few artists in my life who I can think back and remember where I was when I first heard them. ... Her success renews hope in me that the world I live in has good taste -- that we still occasionally come back to what's simple, and simply amazing."

Harvey Weinstein by Johnny Depp: "There are producers, and then there are producers. Harvey belongs to the latter batch. ... Harvey isn't afraid of a duke-'em-out. (I've had the pleasure of being both his ally and his enemy at various times.) He stops at nothing for what he believes in."

Warren Buffett by Barack Obama: "[Warren] uses his stature as a leader to press others of great means to do the same. The Sage of Omaha has handed down plenty of lessons over the years. Today, at 81, he reminds us that life is not just about the value you seek. It's about the values you stand for."

Tim Tebow by Jeremy Lin: "[Tim] is unashamed of his convictions and faith, and he lives a life that consistently reflects his values, day in and day out. ... As athletes, we pour our hearts into winning games. Tim is a reminder that life is about much more than that."
