One of the most promising pilots of the 2014-15 TV season has made its way online early. FOX's new series
"Red Band Society,"
about a group of sick teens living in the pediatricians wing of a hospital and the doctors and nurses who care for them, is "The Breakfast Club" meets "The Perks of Being a Wallflower" in the best way imaginable.
Also in the best way imaginable was the way in which FOX chose to premiere the pilot online. Move over ALS Ice Bucket Challenge -- FOX made the first episode of "Red Band Society" available for 100 hours only after enough people shared content about the series on social media that the network donated $100,000 to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Ryan Seacrest Foundation, St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, Teen Cancer America and Children's Hospital Los Angeles.
