Watch Justin Timberlake sing happy birthday to an 8-year-old boy with autism
Something really special happened at Justin Timberlake's concert the other night. The pop sensation sang happy birthday to 8-year-old Julian Delan -- but there was much more to it than that.
Julian's mom Marika blogged about the entire experience, which is worth a read. But the gist is that her son is a high-functioning autistic boy who loves music, and all he wanted for his birthday was to see Timberlake in concert. Marika was worried that her son's enthusiasm and excitability would disrupt those sitting around them, but it did just the opposite -- so much so that the group of girls having a night out were the ones who got Timberlake's attention so that he would sing to Julian.
Marika writes, "And at the perfect quiet moment, the group in front of us started yelling to get Justin's attention, because despite his loud volume, Julian's voice was not carrying. Only repeating. And then before we knew what was happening, the group in front of us that had turned out to be so incredibly kind all night to our birthday boy, and these gorgeous girls who I was convinced would be totally annoyed by Julian, had captured Justin's attention. And then it happened. Justin Timberlake was singing Happy Birthday. They all were."
In the above video that Julian's dad posted to YouTube, you can hear Julian exclaiming excitedly, "This is my birthday present! This is for my birthday!"
Timberlake probably had no idea just how much what he did meant to young Julian, but he'll probably soon know if he hasn't heard already -- Marika writes in the blog that they've been contacted by "Good Morning America" to share their story.
