Wesley Snipes: Supreme Court refuses to hear tax case appeal

wesley_snipes_getty.jpg Wesley Snipes will continue as a guest of Pennsylvania's McKean Federal Correctional Institution indefinitely since the Supreme Court on Tuesday (June 7) declined to hear his appeal in his income tax case.

In 2008, Snipes was convicted in a Florida federal court on three misdemeanor counts of willful failure to file income tax returns. In each case he received the maximum sentence -- a year in prison. So, three years total to be served consecutively. Snipes has been in jail since Dec. 9, 2010.

In July 2010, a federal appeals court ruled that Snipes' conviction would stand, adding that it was "well within the considerable discretion" of a U.S. court.

Since his run at a Supreme Court appeal has failed, the "Blade" star will likely serve out the rest of his sentence.
