Whitney Houston's Billboard Music Awards tribute battled for by sister-in-law Pat Houston - report

whitney-houston-bobbi-kristina.jpgIt's pretty sad, but we guess it wouldn't be a Whitney Houston-related event with some controversy and kerfuffle. TMZ is reporting that the tribute planned for the late singer at Sunday night's (May 20) Billboard Music Awards is causing problems for the show because Whitney's sister-in-law Pat Houston is trying to insert herself into the tribute.

Reportedly, the show wants Whitney's daughter Bobbi Kristina to accept the award and make a speech on Whitney's behalf all by herself, but Pat Houston desperately wants to worm her way into the segment as well.

Sources tell TMZ that Pat is making things very difficult for the show's producers right now, who think that Pat is merely trying to put herself in the spotlight as a way to gain publicity for her new reality show.

We hope that is not the case - how sad.
