Will Arnett on 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles': Vernon becomes part of the teamAdd to Favorites | The Millers
Will Arnett might be known best for his comedic roles, but don't expect him to only be playing the comedic relief in the upcoming Michael Bay-produced "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" movie. His character Vernon Fenwick starts off in the film simply as Megan Fox's character April O'Neil's cameraman, but then quickly becomes a more integral part of the Ninja Turtles team.
"In this version, Vernon is April's cameraman, so they work together as opposed to being her adversary," Arnett tells Zap2it at CBS' TCA party of how Vernon differs in this movie from other versions of the character. "He's a little reluctant when she starts talking about [how] she found these vigilantes and they're turtles and all this stuff and he kinds of looks at her like she's crazy. Once the action gets going and she kind of gets in trouble, Vernon steps up and helps her and then he becomes part of it as well. He helps April help the Turtles."
That means Arnett got to be involved in the action-oriented side of the "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" story. "There's some really great action sequences that I'm super psyched for people to see. They were really fun to shoot; very physically demanding. Very exciting," he says.
Up next, Arnett also has the new CBS comedy "The Millers." He says that's a change of pace for him as an actor, just like starring in "Teenage Ninja Turtles" was.
"It's been kind of a crazy last year for me for sure. We shot the pilot [for 'The Millers'] and for the last sort of three and a half months have been working on the 'Turtles' movie," he says. "I just wrapped, and again, that's another sort of gearshift. It's much more of an action movie. Michael Bay's producing that, so of course it's a whole fantastic, big, great action-packed film. I had such a blast doing that and doing something a little doing that too. I'm not going to say I'm an action star, but it was fun being in it."
Directed by Jonathan Liebesman, "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles" also stars Alan Ritchson, Jeremy Howard, Noel Fisher, Pete Ploszek, Danny Woodburn and William Fitchner. It's due in theaters on June 6, 2014.
