Will royal baby photos from Kate Middleton, Prince William shatter Twitter records?
Are we looking at a new Twitter record? Very possibly.
The current record for retweets is held by President Obama, whose official account tweeted the picture of him hugging his wife after he won reelection last November with the caption, "Four more years." It currently stands at nearly 800,000 retweets.
But we would not be surprised if the royal baby photos beat "four more years." In an age of declining magazine sales, People magazine is expected to see 1.4 million copies sold during the two weeks its royal baby cover was on newsstands, which managing editor Larry Hackett tells the New York Times makes it the best-selling issue of the year. The follow-up issue, titled "first days home," is expected to sell a million newsstand copies.
So, will the first royal baby picture break Twitter records? Look for it early next week to find out!
And never fear, royal baby watchers. The official portraits will still be taken, but they are planned for later int the year when Prince George has his christening.
