'World War Z' trailer: Brad Pitt fights off the zombie apocalypse
It's the end of the world as we know it, and Brad Pitt does not feel fine. The trailer for "World War Z" has arrived, and judging by the devastation wreaked in the above video, it doesn't bode well for humankind. The film, loosely inspired by the Max Brooks book of the same name, stars Pitt as a United Nations employee who might be the only person who can stop the zombie apocalypse.
Once you watch the trailer, you'll notice that these aren't the same types of zombies that we all are used to seeing. Unlike the slow zombies in "Night of the Living Dead" or fast zombies in "28 Days Later," these creatures swarm around the world, seemingly taking out everything in their paths.
"They are like predatory animals that can't control themselves," visual special effects supervisor John Nelson tells Entertainment Weekly. "I worked with tigers [while shooting 'Gladiator'], and if you watch them when a horse goes by they go batty, even if they know they can't reach it. When Zs see humans they do same thing, they activate. They launch themselves."
"World War Z" is due out on June 21, 2013.
