World's oldest man celebrates 115th birthday

kimura_oldest_man-birthday.jpgHappy birthday to Jiroemon Kimura, the world's oldest living man, who celebrated the big 115 Thursday (April 19).

"It is all thanks to the grace of God," Kimura told reporters at his home in Kyotango City near Kyoto, Japan. "I have nothing but gratitude for the life I've been given."

And while he is the oldest living man and the third oldest man in recorded history, he's 237 days shy of the oldest living person -- supercentenarian (someone who is 110 or older) Besse Cooper, who was born on August 26, 1896 and lives in Monroe, Ga.

Kimura has fathered 7 children (5 are still living), has 14 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren. He attributes his long life to eating small portions.
