The 2014 installment of WWE's "Money in the Bank" pay per view carries quite a bit more suspense than ever before, with the guarantee of a new WWE World Heavyweight Champion at the end of the night.
Daniel Bryan, who will appear on the pre-show, has been
stripped of the title due to injury
. Now it's on the line in one of two ladder matches, while the other will be for a championship match that can be cashed in any time over the next year.
"Money in the Bank" predictions below, then follow along with out live blog when the show airs live on Sunday, June 29, at 8 p.m. ET on pay per view.
Roman Reigns vs. John Cena vs. Randy Orton vs. Bray Wyatt vs. Sheamus vs. Cesaro vs. Alberto Del Rio vs. Kane for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship
This match carries the most implications going forward. A new champion will be crowned and it could very well be someone who has never held the title before. Both Roman Reigns and Bray Wyatt are on fire at the moment and could be interesting choices to become champion.
However, WWE may have spoiled the result of the match already. A promotional poster for "Summerslam" was released by the company, touting a main event match between John Cena and Brock Lesnar. That, combined with the fact that "Money in the Bank" is in Cena's home market, makes him the most likely candidate.
Winner: John Cena
Underdog pick: Roman Reigns. You'll see why below.
Seth Rollins vs. Dean Ambrose vs. Bad News Barrett vs. RVD vs. Dolph Ziggler vs. Kofi Kingston vs. Jack Swagger
This match could help shape the future of WWE. Right away, eliminate those who have no chance to win, which is pretty much everybody except Dean Ambrose and Seth Rollins.
The two former Shield members will likely be the breakout stars of the match, and one of them will walk away with that briefcase. This time out, it'll probably be Seth Rollins. He's The Authority's new guy and the most interesting choice of the two, especially if Reigns wins the title. That's a money match that will have to happen sometime.
Winner: Seth Rollins
The Usos vs. The Wyatt Family for the WWE Tag Team Championships
Once upon a time, about six months ago, WWE had its best tag team division in years. Then that went away when the New Age Outlaws showed up. Now, it's being rebuilt and there are a few promising teams.
While The Usos have been solid champions, it's time for something new. Erick Rowan and Luke Harper holding gold for the Wyatt Family gives that group even more legitimacy, spotlights a solid team and gives Bray and his boys something to talk about.
Winners: The Wyatt Family
Paige vs. Naomi for the WWE Divas Championship
This is an easy one to call. WWE is still building Paige as a credible Divas Champion, leading up to her inevitable rematch against A.J. Lee. Naomi, while good, hasn't been given the kind of build Alicia Fox received leading up to her title shot, and you remember
how that played out
Additionally, WWE seems to be going with Cameron vs. Naomi at a future date. A battle of the
stars doesn't also need a title to sell it.
That's it as far as announced matches go; however, there are a few that are expected to take place during the event.
Layla vs. Summer Rae
With Fandango as a special guest referee, chances are this match is going to be funnier than it is athletic. Truth be told, if Summer Rae wins this match and somehow ends up back with Fandango, that might be a downgrade for her. She's a "Total Divas" star now and once that show comes back around, those Divas tend to stick together.
Rybaxel vs. Goldust and Stardust
Just in case the first couple times this happened weren't enough to convince you, the rebranded Rhodes Brothers will win this. Also, Stardust is cool.
Winner: Goldust and Stardust
