charles-robinson-WWE-smackdown.jpgProfessional wrestling can be a dangerous sport and not just for the wrestlers. WWE referee Charles Robinson reveals on Twitter that he was prepping the ring for an event in Saudi Arabia this weekend when his thumb got caught in the turnbuckle. The result was a horrible cut that nearly severed the digit.

Fortunately, Robinson got all stitched up and should be fine. But the injury was fairly gruesome -- you can see the photos on Robinson's Twitter, but be warned: They are graphic.

Robinson seems to be doing OK. He tweets to his fans, "Thank you for all of the well wishes. @wwe fans are the best in the world. One more show in Saudi Arabia and then back home on Sunday!"

The WWE is currently in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia for its first-ever WWE Live event in the country. Live next heads to an event in Toronto, then back to the U.S. for a series of shows. Raw and Smackdown are currently on the East Coast before heading to St. Louis and Kansas City, respectively.
