Rough night for World Wrestling Entertainment's former World Heavyweight Champion, Jack Swagger. Swagger, real name Jacob Hager, was arrested Tuesday night following a taping of the company's TV show "Smackdown." TMZ reports Hager was initially pulled over for speeding, however police discovered that he was driving under the influence.
A search of his car produced marijuana, which led to Swagger being arrested for DUI (not alcohol), and possession. He was also charged with speeding. All charges are misdemeanors, and Hager was later released on his own recognizance. When reached for comment, a WWE spokesperson said, "Mr. Swagger is responsible for his own personal actions."
WWE has a drug testing policy in place. Testing positive for drugs other than marijuana and alcohol make the employee subject to suspension. However, testing positive for marijuana is only a $2,500 fine. Swagger recently returned from injury, and has been part of a large storyline going into the company's biggest annual show, Wrestlemania. No word on if the arrest will have any effect on his appearing on the show.
