gay-superhero-marriage-Astonishing-X-Men-No-50-Marvel.jpgThe ladies of "The View" had a little wedding announcement Tuesday (May 22) morning, confirming that Northstar, an openly gay member of the X-Men, will propose to his boyfriend, Kyle in Astonishing X-Men No. 50, which hits stands Wednesday.

"You think Batman and Robin could come out of the closet?" co-host Joy Behar jokes.

Probably not, but Northstar, who became Marvel's first openly gay superhero in 1992, isn't the only gay comic book character in the news this week. DC co-publisher Dan DiDio revealed recently that DC plans to reintroduce an existing character who was previously straight and now will be "one of our most prominent gay characters."

Courtney Simmons of DC tells ABC News that the gay character story line will happen in June.
