'X-Men Origins: Wolverine' actor Troye Sivan gay, comes out on YouTube
Troye Sivan, the actor who played the young James Howlett in "X-Men Origins: Wolverine," released an inspiring video on his YouTube page in which he announced to the world that he's gay.
The 18-year-old Australian actor and YouTube star shared his news on Wednesday (August 7) with nearly half a million subscribers after coming out to his friends and family three years ago.
"This is most nervous I've ever been in my entire life," Sivan said. "It feels kind of weird to have to announce it like this on the Internet, but ... this is not something that I'm ashamed of, and it's not something anybody should have to be ashamed of, so why not share it with all of you guys?"
Sivan said in the six months after coming out to his best friend, he watched as many coming-out videos on YouTube that he could, and they truly helped him. He hopes his video will provide hope for other gay and bisexual people, too. "Those people on YouTube, those brave, brave people on YouTube, without them, I don't really know where I'd be," he said.
