'X Factor': More Michael Jackson, Simon Cowell and Paula Abdul fighting, the new and improved Astro

jackson-night-x-factor.jpgIt was the start of Michael Jackson week at "The X Factor."  While the appearance from the Jackson family stole the show, there was still a lot of behind-the-scenes intrigue.

Here the best of what happened when the cameras stopped rolling:

Thursday Preview - It looks like Michael Jackson week on the show will continue on Thursday (Dec. 1) with a group performance of "Man in the Mirror."

Mac and Sweet Dee - While the Jacksons stole the night, there were a couple of other famous people for star gazers. Rob McElhenney and Kaitlin Olson from the FX comedy " It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" were in the crowd.

NicoL.A. or Schreidzinger
- After giving Simon Cowell an earful for his critique of Josh Krajcik's performance of "Dirty Diana," Nicole Scherzinger turned to L.A. Reid and exchanged high fives. Looks like an alliance is forming.

No Comment - When Paula Abdul was asked by Bill (the warm-up guy) who her favorite was now that all her team is gone, she offered the disappointingly diplomatic "I have many favorites."

His own warm up
- Before he even started, Astro worked the crowd. He smiled and seemed genuinely relaxed for the first time. It's like a whole new Astro.

Alumni Night - The girls of Lakoda Rayne and the Stereo Hogzz also enjoyed the night. Just not as much as if they'd been on stage.

Problems with Paula - After Paula's comments about Drew needing to do an uptempo number, Simon made stabbing motions at Abdul. Not sure what exactly this meant. It sure seemed weird.

Lost in Translation - Steve Jones hasn't quite grasped Twitter speak. While reading a Tweet during the broadcast he interpreted "LOL" as "Lots of Laughs." Almost.
