Michael Muhney's time on "The Young and the Restless" will soon be coming to an end. The soap opera actor took to Twitter to reveal he was fired from the job.

"I'm so sorry. It breaks my heart to say this, but I was just let go from Y&R. My last day on set is this Thursday," he tweets.

Muhney has been working on "The Young and the Restless" since 2009 as Adam Newman. It's his longest-running TV appearance, though he also played Sheriff Don Lamb on "Veronica Mars." Though Don was killed off on that show, his brother -- played by Jerry O'Connell -- will be in the upcoming "Veronica Mars" movie.

For now, Muhney says he is going to spend his time between jobs focusing on his family. "My last air date will be Jan 30th. I'm going to take some private time with my wife & kids, as I am most concerned for their well-being," he writes. "I have 3 final episodes to film, and because they are my last, I will be giving it everything I have. More details will follow... #xoxoxo."
