Zac Efron went to rehab twice this year - report

zac-efron-rehab-twice.jpgThere was a report this week that actor Zac Efron went to rehab earlier this year for a cocaine problem. Now TMZ is reporting that Efron actually sought treatment twice in 2013, once in March and then again after he relapsed in April while shooting Seth Rogen's film "Neighbors."

Sources tell the site that Efron had been using cocaine for two years and had also started getting into Molly, which is a form of ecstasy. Both times he received treatment, it was through an outpatient program.

The sources say that Efron's reasons for the drug abuse include problems with his parents, being upset with his movie career not being more successful and romantic problems (though not with former girlfriend Vanessa Hudgens). Add that in with him reportedly hanging out with a group of friends who introduced him to the drugs and it added up to a substance abuse problem.

But the sources say that Efron has taken steps to remove those friends from his life. Hopefully Efron has gotten the help he needs and is working on recovery and staying clean.

Efron can next be seen in "Parkland," which just debuted at the Toronto International Film Festival. The movie chronicles the assassination of President Kennedy, with Efron stepping into the shoes of Jim Carrico, the first doctor to examine the president after he was shot.

"Parkland" opens nationwide on Friday, Oct. 4.
