Zack Snyder takes on 'Superman'; Peter Jackson may direct 'The Hobbit' after all

zack-snyder-getty.jpgBite-sized morsels of movie news -- just like you get at your theater's concession stand, only much cheaper.

"Watchmen," "300" and "Legend of the Guardians" director Zack Snyder (pictured) has been chosen to bring the Man of Steel back to the big screen. He'll direct a new Superman movie, which Christopher Nolan ("Inception," "The Dark Knight") is producing and David S. Goyer ("Batman Begins," "FlashForward") is writing. [ Heat Vision]

After seemingly going there and back again in search of a director, "The Hobbit" is probably going to wind up in the hands of "Lord of the Rings" helmer (and "Hobbit" writer-producer) Peter Jackson. The film(s) have been without a director since Guillermo del Toro stepped aside a few months ago. [ The Wrap]
