Banks Puts Her Paws on 'Claus'

"Invincible" co-star Elizabeth Banks has scored the female lead in "Joe Claus," a holiday comedy from Warner Bros.

One of the busiest actresses in the business, Banks will play the love interest for Vince Vaughn's character, Santa Claus' dead-beat brother. The film, which co-stars Paul Giamatti and Kevin Spacey, will reunite Vaughn with his "Wedding Crashers" director David Dobkin.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Banks' character is one of Santa's Little Helpers.

The film is expected to be released next winter.

In addition, the trade paper reports that Banks and recent Oscar winner Rachel Weisz are in talks to join Ryan Reynolds, Derek Luke and Isla Fisher in the Universal romantic comedy "Definitely, Maybe."

The film, set to be written and directed by Adam Brooks, stars Reynolds as a political consultant who has to explain his promiscuous past to his 11-year-old daughter. The trade says that Banks will play Reynolds' college sweetheart, who leaves him for his brother, but comes back into his life. Weisz will play another woman from his past.

Recent credits for Banks have included "The 40 Year-Old Virgin," "Daltry Calhoun" and "Slither." "Invincible" opens on Friday, Aug. 25, which will be followed on the Penn alum's slate by "Spider-Man 3" and "Bill."
