Debra Messing Gets Hitched to More 'Starter Wife'
Debra Messing will return to television for the series "The Starter Wife," currently in development at USA as a follow-up to its successful summer miniseries of the same name, according to
The former "Will & Grace" star will reprise her role as Molly Kagan, a woman who has to rediscover her own identity after getting divorced from a wealthy Hollywood film mogul. Based on the novel by Gigi Levangie Grazer, the series will revolve around Molly's post-divorce adventures.
USA has ordered 10 episodes of the series. The original "Starter" miniseries averaged an impressive 5.4 million viewers in its two-hour debut. A little more than half of those viewers (2.88 million) fell into the holy-grail demographic of adults 18-49, giving USA its best-ever Thursday performance in that measure. The premiere also beat its broadcast competition among women 18-49 in its second hour.
The miniseries was also nominated for ten Emmys, including ones for Messing, best miniseries and writers Josann McGibbon and Sara Parriott.
