Ricky Gervais Takes 'Early Retirement'

Ricky Gervais is set to star in a comedy from the writer of Disney's "Country Bears" and Lindsay Lohan's "Herbie" reboot.

Maybe Gervais'll do a rewrite?

According to Variety, Gervais is attached to "Early Retirement," a Warner Bros. comedy pitch from Mark Perez ("Accepted"). Perez would also executive produce, with Mosaic Media's Charles Roven and Richard Suckle producing.

Gervais would play a man who quits his stressful job to spend more time with his family, prompting no end to the hilarity.

An Emmy nominee this year for his performance on "Extras," Gervais also created and co-starred in original version of "The Office."

His feature acting credits include "For Your Consideration," "Night at the Museum" and the upcoming "Stardust."
